Mr. Tanksley concentrates his practice in the area of school law, representing school boards of education in all areas affecting their operation. Prior to joining Parker McCay, Mr. Tanksley served as Counsel for the New Jersey School Boards Association where he represented over 600 public school districts in school law matters before the New Jersey Appellate Division, New Jersey Supreme Court, District Court of New Jersey, and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Tanksley was also responsible for implementing Ethics Act training for school board members, designing curriculum and ensuring training compliance through the School Ethics Commission. He has also drafted legislation and worked to ensure passage of statutes and regulations designed to benefit public education. In addition, he has authored two books and several published articles on New Jersey School Law. While in private practice, he represented several large school districts in South Jersey in the areas of superintendent contracts, public purchasing, real estate, student discipline, employee discipline, employee training, ethics, and board policy. In addition, Mr. Tanksley served as Special Prosecutor in the Newark Municipal Court, as well as Prosecutor for Ewing Township Municipal Court, prosecuting various criminal violations, traffic matters, and local ordinance violations.
