About

Ben Harper Dickerson is a dedicated attorney at Cross Law Firm, S.C., located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he advocates fervently for workers’ rights and social justice. With a strong focus on employment contracts, Ben specializes in defending employees facing disciplinary actions and wrongful termination. He adeptly navigates complex issues of employment discrimination and retaliation, addressing cases that involve sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, race, national origin, age, marital status, and criminal records. His meticulous attention to detail shines through in his work reviewing, negotiating, and litigating various instruments of labor and employment law, including collective bargaining agreements, individual employment contracts, independent-contractor agreements, noncompete clauses, and severance agreements. Beyond employment law, Ben is well-versed in tribal law, housing discrimination, and environmental issues, particularly climate justice and environmental whistleblowing. His overarching goal is to secure justice for his clients and ensure their rights are upheld. He is committed to seeking extralegal resolutions whenever feasible, which allows for faster relief and remedies that might not be attainable through litigation. However, when negotiations fall short, Ben's confidence and effectiveness as a litigator come to the forefront. Ben’s legal journey began in law school, where he made significant contributions through the Neighborhood Law Clinic, aiding community members against eviction and discrimination. His accolades include recognition as an Outstanding Note and Comment Editor for the Wisconsin International Law Journal, as well as completing the Labor and Employment Law Concentration with Honors. His experience spans clerkships with a Madison law firm focusing on labor and employment law, the nonprofit Environmental Law and Policy Center, and the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe, where he conducted in-depth legal research on employment law. Originally hailing from Austin, Texas, Ben earned his B.A. in English from the University of Texas at Austin before relocating to Wisconsin for his legal education. His diverse background also includes roles as a copy editor and insurance advisor. Outside of his legal practice, Ben expresses his creativity through music, playing piano and guitar, and has self-produced multiple albums. He enjoys culinary adventures, running, and spending quality time with his beloved cat, Stirfry, all while embracing the vibrant culture of Milwaukee.
