Avram Solomon Turkel practices commercial, matrimonial / family, real estate, intellectual property and criminal defense law in metropolitan area State and Federal Courts and Alternate Dispute Resolution forums such as the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), American Arbitration Association (AAA), JAMS and the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY). He regularly appears in area courts for arguments, conferences and trials. Mr. Turkel's appellate practice includes hadnling direct appeals in his own matters and appeals from order and judgments handled by other lawyers at the trial court level. Mr. Turkel served as Legislative Director to Hon. Alan J. Gerson (NYC Council District 1, Lower Manhattan) from 2003 to 2005 working primarily on post 9-11 reconstruction, affordable housing and quality of life issues. As a law student he interned in Blue Zone of the Kings County District Attorney’s Office and in both Trial Bureau 50 and the Appeals Bureau of the New York County District Attorney’s Office. As a college student, Mr. Turkel was the crime reporter for the Michigan Daily. Mr. Turkel is a member of the New York State Bar Association, New York City Bar Association, Jewish Lawyer's Guild, University of Michigan Alumni Association; Brooklyn Law School Alumni Association and Stuyvesant High School Alumni Association. He is a former president of TriBeCa Synagogue.
