Andy is a criminal defense attorney who has practiced in state and federal courts for almost two decades. As a former state prosecutor, as a former federal prosecutor, and as a former Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division for the United States Attorney's Office for the District of South Carolina, Andy has unique experience that he can put to work for you to achieve the best outcome possible in your case under the circumstances. FORMER FEDERAL PROSECUTOR- As an Assistant United States Attorney for more than 10 years, Andy prosecuted complex drug cases, white collar cases, public corruption cases, violent crime cases, and firearms cases. While serving in this capacity, Andy tried cases in federal courts all across South Carolina and developed strong relationships with federal agents, state police officers, and local police officers. FORMER DEPUTY CHIEF, CRIMINAL DIVISION, U.S. ATTORNEY'S OFFICE- From 2017-19, Andy was in charge of the narcotics unit for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of South Carolina. As the Deputy Chief, Andy was the head, federal drug prosecutor in the State of South Carolina. Andy had 9 federal prosecutors who reported directly to him; he trained the entire office on how to conduct wiretaps and approved all wiretaps submitted by federal drug prosecutors; he routinely worked with supervisors from the FBI, the DEA, Homeland Security, and other agencies; and he often communicated with judges for the purpose of improving the U.S. Attorney's Office advocacy in federal courts around South Carolina.
