About

Andrea B. Shuford concentrates her practice in immigration law. Ms. Shuford represents clients before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the Board of Immigration Appeals, Immigration Courts, and U.S. Embassies around the world. Having been a refugee and an immigrant herself, Ms. Shuford is very passionate about her immigration law practice. She has experience in most aspects of immigration law thanks to her career in private practice, her law school internships in the federal government, and her volunteer experience with non-profit organizations. This unique background has Ms. Shuford a well-rounded perspective of immigration law, which in turn benefits her clients. Prior to founding Shuford Immigration Law, PLLC, Ms. Shuford represented individuals and families as the managing attorney at Nancy M. Vizer, P.C. in Falls Church, Virginia. At Nancy M. Vizer, P.C., Ms. Shuford gained considerable experience representing clients in various immigration matters including sponsoring family members for permanent residence both through adjustment of status and consular process, obtaining U.S. citizenship through naturalization, as well as U-Visa and VAWA applications for clients who are victims of crime or domestic violence. She also has gained extensive experience working with clients to obtain unlawful presence waivers and has assisted university faculty and other professionals with permanent residence through national interest waivers and outstanding professional or researcher categories. Ms. Shuford is also an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and has volunteered on various committees. She started as a member of the New Members Division committee and has been the Virginia State Bar liaison for the past two years. Ms. Shuford received a B.A. cum laude in Political Science and French from Hood College, and J.D. cum laude from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, where she served as a member of the prestigious Vis International Arbitration Moot Court Team. Ms. Shuford is admitted to practice in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. She speaks Spanish, French, and Croatian, and has lived on three continents.
