"The greatest wealth is health" - Virgil When I started law school, I had little idea that I would end up pursuing a career in patient advocacy and healthcare law and policy. In law school, I had the pleasure of completing my clinical internship in the legal department of Palomar Health, the largest healthcare district in California. I learned about the inner workings of the healthcare system including risk management, compliance and regulatory affairs. My favorite experience was teaching homeless high school youth about the basics of our legal system through the Street Law program, and watching my students compete against another school in a mock-trial competition at the San Diego Superior Court. And perhaps the scariest experience during my time as a law student was performing as my school’s representative stand-up comedian in the LAF-Off (Lawyers Are Funny) fundraiser at the House of Blues. I am a licensed California attorney, and I work as a Fraud and Abuse Senior Investigator in the Special Investigations Unit at WellPoint, Inc. I love going to work every day knowing that I am using my legal background to make a difference within the healthcare system.
