A.J. Amissah is a dedicated and accomplished attorney based in Washington, D.C., specializing in criminal defense. A proud graduate of Benedict College, where he earned his degree cum laude in 2013, Mr. Amissah's legal journey continued at Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After a year, he returned to his roots and completed his law degree at the University of the District of Columbia School of Law, also graduating cum laude in 2016. During his time at UDCSL, he actively engaged in the Legislative Clinic and the Special Education Clinic, gaining invaluable experience that would shape his legal career. Following his graduation, Mr. Amissah honed his skills at the Children's Law Center in D.C., where he served as a Guardian Ad Litem and as a Special Education attorney. In this role, he passionately advocated for underserved children and their families, representing them in various legal proceedings, including disciplinary hearings, IEP meetings, and juvenile mental health proceedings. His commitment to social justice and advocacy paved the way for his next venture. In August 2018, Mr. Amissah co-founded the Amissah & Marsh Law Firm, where he focuses on criminal defense, DUI defense, family law—including custody and divorce matters—and construction law. He is also the founder of the Brown Bag Project DMV, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals facing hardships.
