Aaron David Hanke is an associate attorney at Carthew Law Firm, P.C., based in Rochester, Michigan. He specializes in business litigation, estate planning, real estate, and construction transactions. Before joining the firm, Mr. Hanke gained valuable experience as a judicial law clerk for Circuit Court Judge Michael J. Beale in Midland and Circuit Court Judges Scott P. Hill-Kennedy and Ronald C. Nichols in Big Rapids. Mr. Hanke earned his undergraduate degree from Oakland University at the age of 19, graduating cum laude with a major in Journalism and a minor in History. He then obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, where he graduated in the top 10 percent of his class. In March 2011, he was recognized by Michigan Lawyers Weekly as the second youngest active attorney in Michigan and one of only about 60 individuals in the state’s history to have graduated from law school and passed the Michigan bar exam at the age of 22. During his time in law school, Mr. Hanke completed an externship with Federal District Judge Gerald E. Rosen and an internship with former Michigan Supreme Court Justice Maura D. Corrigan. He was an active participant in moot court and law review, with his article, "An Extreme Makeover: Why Michigan’s Judicial Recusal Standards Needed Reconstruction and Why More Work Remains to be Done," published in the University of Detroit Mercy Law Review. Additionally, he received the Edward H. Rakow Scholarship for outstanding achievement in business law from the Federal Bar Association for the Eastern District of Michigan.
