About

Aaron B. Swerdlow joined Gerard Fox Law as corporate and transactional counsel with an emphasis on guiding entertainment and emerging technology clients with transactional, and employment law matters. As the general counsel of a boutique sports agency, Mr. Swerdlow advised professional basketball coaches and retired NBA athletes on employment, licensing, sponsorship, estate planning, and equity investment matters. He worked with high-profile coaches and sports executives, including NBA coaches, general managers, team presidents, and NCAA head coaches, and managed the agency’s internal legal matters. He has assisted clients with the development and initial launch of new businesses, while also providing advice regarding corporate formation, intellectual property, and arbitration. Mr. Swerdlow has experience drafting and revising secured and unsecured credit and mortgage-backed lending facility agreements. He also has experience with commercial mortgage loan agreements and performing due diligence on behalf of regional banks lending to mid-market commercial and residential investors. Mr. Swerdlow’s work on complex business transactions and esports has been nationally-recognized in legal, business, and mainstream news publications, including Law360, USA Today, VentureBeat, the California Daily Journal, and InsideCounsel. He is the editor-in-chief of the sports law section in Matthew Bender’s quarterly treatise, “Entertainment Industry Contracts,” has consulted for a Los Angeles-area NCAA Division II athletic department, and regularly serves on sports law panels. Mr. Swerdlow also worked as in-house counsel with a venture-backed technology start-up, where he negotiated partnerships with Fortune 500 companies and worked on finance and corporate transactions, including private equity, convertible debt, and private placement transactions. Mr. Swerdlow has also worked for the athletic department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and two mid-sized east coast law firms. He also is the Community Service Chair of the Georgetown Club of Los Angeles and maintains an active pro bono practice. Mr. Swerdlow received his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center in 2011, where he was an Executive Articles Editor of the Georgetown Journal on Poverty Law and Policy and a member of the Georgetown Entertainment and Media Alliance. He received his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with honors in 2006.
